The Huntington Library and Gardens

New at the Huntington in 2008 are the Chinese Gardens, and we got to see them a month after they officially opened. Above is a panoramic view of the new garden, below left is a shot inside one of the pagodas, and below right is an old favorite--the Rose Garden.

Visiting the Huntington is one of my favorite things to do. I've been there many times with many people. Above is a visit in the Spring of 2007, with my friend Don Ronketty, his cousin, and Mark Walsh and his wife Miwako. Mark being obscured by the camera, I've included a shot of him to the right.

In 2008 Ken, myself, Mark and Miwako had High Tea in the Tea Room, which is located in the Rose Garden. Above Mark photographed Ken photographing me in front of the Tea Room. I love eating the little sandwiches and scones and various other tiny edibles in the Tea Room. And above that, I'm standing in front of the pond and bridge in the Japanese garden in 2007. Back to 2008, with Ken lusting after the Huntington's snapdragons. He recently moved to New Mexico, and it is evidently too hot and too dry to grow his favorite flower. Below is another view of the Rose Garden, with the roses actually in bloom, taken in 2005, and another view of the Japanese Garden, taken in 2008.
