Having started semi-seriously doing my family genealogy, a number of topics have occurred to me that I want to talk about, related in one way or another to what I have been doing. The obvious place to start seems to me to be a description of exactly what it is I'm doing, and how I'm doing it. So these essays begin with how I got started, and progress on to how I am using the Internet in my search for ancestors.

Beginning

How I got started with pen and paper, memory, and some scrapbooks, and then progressed onwards when I got computerized.

Internet

	Using the Internet to find stuff out, preferably for free. And the place to begin is Google.
	More free resources on the Internet, and some handy links to where you can find even more links and goodies.

A Case Study

And here is a Case Study of my search for information about William Cotton, which illustrates the role of memory, scrapbooks, and the Internet in researching my ancestors.
