Finished Rooms

Dining Room

window
Looking the length of the dining room toward the window which looks out on the concrete driveway. I decided I really don't like drapes, there's nothing to see out there, and I don't want people to see in. Solution: Japanese paper.
dine
Walking into the living room and looking toward the dining room. I've covered the old sleeper couch, which imporves it considerably. The dining room kind of embodies a decorative philosophy of Victorian Clutter. The featured painting is my impression of the planet Jupiter. It was refused entrance to a student show because it was "too disturbing." And next to the guitar is a photo, courtesy of an LA Times photographer, of Keith Richards.
clutter
Close up view of some of the wall clutter.

Into the Hall

hall
Looking from the computer area down the hallway, not all the grouting has been done yet.
tile
Looking down at the decorative tile separating the livingroom and hallway. To the right is a little cherub I acquired forty some years ago. He's back in his corner...
damian
after some interesting travels around the house.

Computer Area

portrait
Walking from the living room into the computer area, the former cat door bookcase in now under the portrait. Damian isn't back yet (see above).
computer
Looking to the right, at the restructured computer area. I ought to do something about those wires, but I've never figured out just what would work.

Alcove and Living Room

alcove
The alcove as seen from the couch, with a bookcase nearly full.
livingroom
From the dining room, looking toward the patio.

The Whole Shebang

done

Panoramic view of everything, April 2007. I still haven't replaced the main, or TV watching, couch, just thrown a cheap quilt over it (and it is also sporting a crocheted blankie made by a nun, which I use as a lap rug when watching TV when it's coolish). There is one small throw rug, very thin, which not even I have tripped on, but it does move around a bit. My drafting table is back in the alcove, and the computer gear is in place, although the iBook isn't in its usual spot directly behind the couch.
