The bed arrived 15 minutes after I returned from the airport with my first guest for the new Grand Guest Suite. I thumbtacked some old curtains to the windows and kidnapped a lamp from the studio. So the First Guest had a bed, a nightstand with light, a couple of drawers in the dresser, privacy from the outside, and, in the private bathroom, a funtional toilet and washstand, although the shower is not working (and won't be until I redo the bathroom--perhaps later this year). Also, those last 15 tiles, in the group next to the bathroom wall, still aren't grouted. It seems the place I bought the grout has gone out of business, and that particular special color is no longer available. I will have to match the grout as best I can. Hmmm. Above we have the view from the doorway and the view from the bathroom (had to Photoshop two pix together, not possible to take a photo showing the whole south wall). And to the left is the dresser, showing a reflection of the bed in its oval mirror. Next I need to finish the grouting, and, for the time being, get some curtain rods up and some curtains that match the new decor to hang on them, put up some drawings/prints/paintings on the walls, build a bookcase and move the books currently cluttering the floor of the studio into it. Later I want to design, build and install a set of interior shutters for those windows. I have some ideas, it remains to be seen whether ideas can be made real. Below is a panorama of the bedroom, put together using the new Photomerge Panorama feature in Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, as you can see it works MUCH better than the same thing in Photoshop CS1. The blending is darn near perfect, although one does see a bit of perspective distortion in the lower left corner. I've added a chair to the furnishings (which is in dire need of new seat cover), and the curtain at the head of the bed is now on an actual curtain rod. |
