Landscaping the Front Yard: Fall 2009

October 29th, working on the second tier, about one third complete.

Looking west, the new stones laid, except for the pebbling. This will be the 4th of the 9 sections I want to get done before I turn 70. So I've finished not quite half in 3 years, 4 years left to meet my goal of no more lawn mowing after I attain old geezer status.

The almost finished new section.

The chives have gone to seed.
west
The new section with pebbles on Halloween, didn't want trick or treaters stumbling on the unfilled hole.

Blue and red potted flowers.

Progress in 2009, or How I Spent 5 Months Doing a Little Bit of Work

Where I was on the 5th of June.

Where I got to by Halloween. While I didn't make as much progress as I hoped, the Washington Navel Orange (in the center) grew nicely.

Looking east at the new section on 15 November.

Entire front view on 17 November. I've started digging out the remaining grass. I'll be leveling things out, and in order to do this will be making the center section (where most of the grass is still growing) into a slightly raised flower bed. Actually, since that is a prime growing area, in terms of sunlight, I may plant my veggies there next spring.
