Fall 2009, Part 2

2004
In the Spring of 2004 I was busy removing the damn pepper trees that spring up like weeds everywhere, and I removed as much as I could reach of the one that was growing inside the Pampas Grass in the northeast corner. I couldn't get to the bottom of the tree without taking out the grass, whose blades are like 6 foot long razor blades, and thus had no chance to really get rid of the tree. In five years it grew up into the power lines.
2009
December 1, 2009, after some itinerant tree trimmers came by, and for a mere 225 bucks took out the tree that had regrown, with two trunks, one on each side of the phone line (you can see it in the upper right corner). They removed the demon grass as well. All in one hour! The tree is now cut off at ground level, and I treated the stump with poison. It will take awhile, but I will eventually be able to kill it.
seeds
I can't help it, I love my little stand of chives, both in flower and when gone to seed.
pink
And I also love the flower whose name I never remember in bloom, and contrasting with pink stepping stones.
