Spring 2011: May

The front of the house, with everything painted on 11 May. I've also caged a couple of the tomato plants (and there are a few baby tomatoes), and put some more plants in pots. Below are close-up views of the two corners.

So then I turned the corner and started work on the West side, planning to be done by Memorial Day. Amazingly enough, that actually happened.

I even fixed and painted the gate. It can now be opened and closed like, well, a normal gate. Even a gust of wind can close and latch it! And it looks pretty good, as long as you don't look too closely. If you do look closely, you can see how 40 years of cats jumping the gate have worn away the wood. But if one is just walking by on the sidewalk, it all appears "good enough for government work."

Anyway, the publicly viewable part of the house is now all painted. Time to start on the bathroom renovation, which needs to be done by July 14, when my brother and family come to visit.

Why the cats who have done the jumping seem to prefer the same spot, I don't know. It's kind of like the foot of the statue worn away by the faithful kissing its toes.
