Capers: The plant clinging to the wall and hanging down just to right of the arch is the source of those wonderful little edibles. What you eat are the unopened flowers. I thought the combination of the real leaves with the stone leaves of the capital made a nice contrast, the courtyard is pretty, as is the largeish cupola with the little ones below it.

Arches: Here are some very old arches, in an interesting perspective, compared with the very much more elaborate arches of a church door. While I didn't find lots of different things to photograph, the ones I did find were particularly striking. Of course, I was just a bit rattled because I got lost in Palermo, which is a very big and very busy city, and I don't speak Italian. Scary. Fortunately my friend Bruce found me before I had a complete panic attack.

Three Cupolas: The front view of the Cathedral in Palermo is very lovely. Here's a view of one group of the miniature cupolas, and one of them is visible next to corner tower in the photo to the right. You can see two of the miniatures below the large cupola/small dome on the other side of the building in the photo above. The palm tree adds a nice touch too. Below is a panoramic view of the Cathedral. For contrast I wish I had gotten a shot of the ultra modernist Santuario Della Madonnina, which we referred to as Our Lady of the Agitator Blades. But I didn't.
