While we found much else on the Capitoline hill to greatly enjoy, which I hadn't really expected, Ken and I both had REALLY wanted just to see the Dying Gaul again. The two complimentary views, with the background wiped out in Photoshop, were taken respectively by me with my Canon and Ken with his Nikon. I took the back view at the left, and left the scene intact. Ken observed that from the back it almost looks like he is trying to rise. Below are two views of the Theatre Marcellus colonade, which one can now observe up close, a fact that delighted me. And finally, two interior shots taken in ambient light, one of the interior of Santa Maria in Trastevere, and the other of a Roman statue of a Vestal Virgin in the museum at the Baths of Diocletian. |
