Italy: Hill Towns 2

Cortona, Umbertide and Montone

belltower door
umbertide The nearest hill town to us was Cortona. Unfortunately I only visited it once, but did get two nice pictures: the bell tower and an open doorway. Umbertide isn't really a hill town, but you go there to get to Montone. We also bought a considerable supply of food in a little shop that, it being Monday and all, wasn't doing much business and the proprietors were delighted to see us keep picking up things to buy. The octagonal church is the center of a major traffic circle. I also got a nice photo of a church wall and bell tower. Montone is an absolute jewel, with breath taking views of the countryside and delightful little glimpses of buildings and plant life.
