Four of us who had known each other since high school decided to take a trip to Northern Italy in 2005. We visited Florence for a few days, and then set out for our dream vacation: we had rented a villa in Tuscany. It was in the mountains beyond Cortona, and very near the boundary with Umbria. We used it as home base from which to visit hill towns throughout the area.
